Abstract
The article analyzes the main problems and prospects for the development of hydrogen energy in shipbuilding. Currently, there is an increase in interest of large companies and government agencies in hydrogen fuel cells (FCs). Two main reasons for this can be distinguished: high fuel cell efficiency (70-80%) and their environmental benefits. But in the near future the mass introduction of technology is unlikely to happen, it is still necessary to solve a number of problems associated with the production and operation of special power plants, and reduce their cost. When technological barriers are overcome, hydrogen energy will reach a new level and, possibly, will be as widespread as traditional or hydropower today.
