Open Access Policy

The European Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems (EJITS) is an Open Access journal, committed to providing unrestricted access to high-quality research in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Our Open Access policy aligns with our mission to promote the widest possible dissemination of scientific knowledge, ensuring that research is freely accessible to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the general public worldwide.

1. Open Access Model

EJITS operates under the Gold Open Access model. This means that all articles published in the journal are immediately available online to the public without any subscription fees or access charges. Readers can access, download, and share the full texts of all articles without any barriers, promoting the free flow of information and fostering collaboration and innovation.

2. Continuous Article Publishing (CAP)

EJITS follows a Continuous Article Publishing (CAP) model, ensuring that accepted manuscripts are published as soon as they are ready. This model enables prompt dissemination of research findings, providing the academic community and other stakeholders with timely access to new knowledge.

3. Creative Commons License

All articles published in EJITS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows others to:

  • Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially

However, proper credit must always be given to the original authors and source. The full terms of the license can be found at Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

4. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To support the cost of Open Access publishing, EJITS applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to accepted manuscripts. The APC covers the costs associated with peer review, editorial work, typesetting, and maintaining the journal’s infrastructure. No fees are charged at the time of submission; APCs are only payable upon acceptance of the manuscript.

APC Waivers and Discounts

EJITS is committed to making Open Access publishing accessible to researchers from all parts of the world. Authors from low- and middle-income countries may be eligible for APC waivers or discounts. Additionally, waivers may be granted on a case-by-case basis for authors facing financial difficulties.

5. Benefits of Open Access

Publishing in EJITS under the Open Access model offers the following benefits:

  • Global Reach: Research is available to anyone, anywhere in the world, leading to higher visibility and citation potential.
  • Immediate Availability: Articles are published immediately upon acceptance and made available without delays.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Open Access facilitates collaboration by allowing researchers and practitioners to freely access and build upon each other’s work.
  • Public Engagement: Open Access allows non-academic audiences, including policymakers, industry professionals, and the general public, to engage with and benefit from cutting-edge research.

6. Archiving and Self-Archiving Policy

EJITS supports long-term preservation and archiving of published research. All published articles are archived in trusted repositories, ensuring that the content remains available in perpetuity.

Self-Archiving:

Authors are permitted to deposit all versions of their work (preprint, accepted manuscript, and final published version) in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other repositories of their choice without embargo. The journal encourages authors to link to the official version of their article via its DOI.

7. Compliance with Open Access Mandates

EJITS complies with Open Access mandates from research funders, institutions, and governments. Authors are encouraged to check their funder’s requirements and ensure that the publication meets all necessary Open Access criteria.

8. Open Access and Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant EJITS the right to publish the article under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This allows authors to retain control over their work while also enabling wide dissemination and reuse.
