Aims and Scope

European Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems (EJITS), established in 2018, is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed Open Access journal that operates under the Continuous Article Publishing (CAP) model. This allows articles to be published as soon as they are ready, ensuring timely dissemination of research without the constraints of traditional issue schedules. The journal publishes high-quality, original research and comprehensive review articles in English, with a focus on cutting-edge developments in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). EJITS aims to advance the understanding and application of technologies that enhance transportation efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The journal covers a wide range of topics within the ITS domain, including but not limited to:

  • Traffic Flow Modeling
EJITS welcomes articles that focus on mathematical and computational modeling techniques for analyzing and predicting vehicle movements within transportation networks. These models provide insights into traffic dynamics, congestion patterns, and flow optimization, helping to improve traffic efficiency and reduce delays.

  • Traffic Management Strategies
Manuscripts discussing strategies for real-time control and optimization of traffic systems, including traffic signal control, congestion pricing, and adaptive traffic management systems, are encouraged. The journal seeks to explore how data-driven approaches can enhance the coordination of transportation networks and improve urban mobility.

  • Sustainable Urban Transportation Solutions
EJITS invites research on transportation systems that promote environmental sustainability, including electric vehicles, shared mobility, and integrated urban transportation planning. Articles should focus on reducing emissions, promoting public transit, and designing cities for multimodal transportation systems that enhance urban living.

  • Intelligent Transportation Technologies and Systems
Submissions on the design, implementation, and evaluation of intelligent transportation systems that utilize cutting-edge technologies, such as vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, AI-driven traffic control, and smart traffic management systems, are welcomed. The journal emphasizes innovations that enhance road safety and improve traffic efficiency.

  • Wireless Communications in Transportation
The journal seeks research on the role of wireless communication technologies, such as cellular networks and V2X communication, in enabling real-time data exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, and traffic management systems. These technologies are essential for the development of connected and autonomous vehicles.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) in ITS
EJITS covers the application of IoT in transportation, focusing on how interconnected devices and sensors can improve traffic management, enhance vehicle-to-vehicle communication, and provide real-time traffic monitoring. Articles should explore IoT-driven innovations that optimize transportation networks and contribute to smarter, safer cities.

  • Autonomous and Connected Vehicles
Submissions discussing the technological, regulatory, and societal impacts of autonomous and connected vehicle technologies are highly valued. The journal is interested in studies that address the development, testing, and deployment of self-driving vehicles, and their role in reducing accidents and improving traffic flow.

  • Traffic Estimation and Prediction Systems
Research on traffic estimation and prediction systems that leverage data analytics, machine learning, and AI to forecast traffic conditions and manage congestion is encouraged. EJITS seeks papers that focus on real-time data processing and predictive modeling to enhance the efficiency and reliability of transportation networks.

  • Transportation Network Analysis
EJITS invites manuscripts that employ network theory, optimization models, and simulation techniques to analyze transportation systems. These studies should aim to improve the performance, resilience, and capacity of transportation networks, with a focus on urban, interurban, and multimodal transport solutions.

EJITS provides a platform for academics, researchers, and professionals to contribute to the evolving field of ITS, fostering collaboration and innovation across various sectors.
